It limits the flow by affecting small blood vessels present on the skin’s surface. Vasospastic Disorder is also called vasoconstriction.
CLASSIFICATION OF VASOSPASTIC DISORDER
It causes in some areas of the body, such as the toes, fingers. You feel numb around these areas when you are stressed or feel cold.
In this, blood flow to the fingers is reduced. It also reduces blood flow to the knees, ears, nipples, toes, or nose. The reason behind this is spams of blood in these areas.
Adequate Arterial Flow
Regulation of blood is essential for the circulatory system; thus, its systematic flow is necessary. It also fulfills the nutritional need of tissues and supplies oxygen. If the balance between blood volume and venous wall tension got disturbed, it would affect the blood flow, and the possibility of Vasospastic disorder occurs.
Inadequate Arterial Flow
The inadequate or poor circulation of blood causes peripheral vascular disease. It is a condition where the blood flow gets blocked in the arteries, and a sufficient supply of blood could not be reached to the organs.
Thrombus is a state where a blood clot stays in the blood vessel. Thrombosis is when a thrombus is found in the blood vessels. Thrombosis is categorized into two main types.
It refers to a clot that blocks an artery that simultaneously blocks blood flow to the heart and brain, resulting in a stroke or heart attack.
It refers to a blood clot in the veins, thus blocks blood flow to other parts of the body.
CAUSES OF VASOSPASTIC DISORDER
This disorder is temporary, but it may frequently occur. Sometimes the cause of this disorder is the intake of drugs such as beta-blockers.
Other cause includes:
- Arterial disease
- Connective tissue disorder
- Neurologic problems
- Endocrine problems
- Response to medication/ drugs
COMPLICATIONS IN VASOSPASTIC DISORDER
In Vasospastic disorder, feelings of numbness or cold occur in toes and fingers. They also cause a change in the color of toes into blue, red, or white.
The main two complications include:-
- Chronic Pernio
- Livedo Reticularis
TREATMENT OF VASOSPASTIC DISORDER
Vasospastic can be prevented by preventing the occurrence of atherosclerosis. There are several ways of doing it. The most important of them are modifications in lifestyle, pharmacological therapies, and medications.
Other medications that cure this disorder are L-type Calcium channel blockers, beta-receptor antagonists, etc.
The blood samples would be required to detect the vasospastic disorder. Evaluation can also be done based on the Digital Brachial Index (DBI), which is a laser treatment used to measure the flux of blood vessels to analyze the treatment.
There are some surgical options to treat this disorder that can control and circulate the blood flow. Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, Angioplasty, and Coronary Artery Bypass are some of the surgical options present today in the world of health.
SYMPTOMS OF VASOSPASTIC DISORDER
If you have this disorder, you can identify this by the following symptoms:-
- Blistering of skin
- Cold skin
- Discoloration of the skin
- Lacelike rash
- Redness when skin exposed to heat
There are no specific criteria for who catches this disorder. It causes only temporary damage. No permanent damage has been observed till now.
Raynaud’s syndrome is one of the common symptoms of vasospastic disorder hands and feet feeling cold or feeling no pain. But if not cured, it may show another underlying condition in the vascular system.
ADVERSE EFFECTS OF VASOSPATIC DISORDER
There are many effects shat should be considered. The medication can cause serious side effects that include
- Orthostatic hypotension
- Reflex tachycardia
- Asthma attacks
PREVENTION OF VASOSPASTIC DISORDER
This disorder arises because of a fault in the system of blow flow. Thus it can be easily prevented. The main prevention measure you can take is as follows:
- Quit smoking
- Physical activity
- Control diabetes, obesity
- Do not take tension
- Increase nitric oxide level in the blood.
